- Gluten free Rice Chex (or corn)
- Chai Seeds
This is one of my absolute favorite breakfasts! It's healthy, full of important nutrients and proteins, tastes delicious, is filling and it's incredibly quick and easy. Essentially it is just a bowl of cereal but amped up to a whole new level. Cereal is probably the easiest breakfast and everyone loves it because it keeps their mornings simple. The problem with this is that many cereals are filled with unhealthy ingredients and many are loaded with sugar. Which is why I like to stick with my oat bowl and stay as far away from box cereal as possible. Now with that said, in the ingredients above you can see that I do have a box cereal as a part of my breakfast. I add a small handful (maybe 10 pieces) of the gluten free rice Chex to my bowl simply for that extra crunch that it gives. Personally that is my favorite part about eating cereal, the combination of cold almond milk and a crunch crunchy to start the day.
Oats, in comparison to cereal, are so great for you! I love oats because you can do so much with them. You can eat it cold with almond milk (or whatever you prefer), you can make porridge or oatmeal, you can make muffins or cookies, you can add it to smoothies, you can make granola, there are endless opportunities. But enough about my rant on how much I love oats...
Really for making this breakfast you just throw everything into the bowl. I place the oats in the bottom, then add the Chex and then start placing the fruit on top (I like to think of it as decorating my breakfast). Then I top it off with the muesli and add the Chia seeds. Sometimes I do add a small dollop of almond butter to get some extra protein added. There is already a respectable amount of protein in oats but after a hard workout it is important to provide your body with both the protein it needs (for your muscles) and other nutrients. Then to finish it off I add my unsweetened original (no flavor) almond milk. Such an awesome breakfast that is easy and quick for busy mornings.
P.s this can even be a perfect mid-afternoon or even mid-morning snack, really just depending on how long your days are and what your body needs.
