2016 has been a whirlwind and I never ever would to have expected it go go the way it went/end the way it did. But I just wanted to write a little note about something that may seem very obvious but something that finally clicked for me. Life is about balance. No s*** right... But it's something that I didn't entirely live by until the middle of this year. A lot of things have happened this year and believe that all of these things combined together have lead me to really understanding and realizing what living a balanced life actually means and how it can positively impact the mind and body.
I feel like my "healthy lifestyle" took a little overhand. Both with working out but also with the food I was eating. For now i'll cover the food and get into the workout later (so stay tooned). So I was the type that was afraid of bread, gluten in general, butter, sugar, dairy, basically everything that has ever had a bad rep. I would barely ever eat these kinds of foods, and if I did I would feel guilty and workout extra hard because I felt like I had to work it off. I wasn't living. I spent way too much time worrying about what I was eating and forgetting to just enjoy the little things. and freaking enjoy the guilty pleasures of life!
I love bread and butter and pasta and cookies and cake and ice cream and pizza and fries and all sorts of "bad foods"! But guess what they may not be good food you if you eat them every day or even every week but even foods that aren't vegetables are good for you! Life is about balance! You need to remember to let yourself live once in a while and just let go being a health freak. This is literally my new motto for the year.
Just remember everything in proportion! Listen to your body, listen to what you want and for goodness sake eat if you are hungry!!! Life is too short and there is too much delicious food in the world to not eat!
Thats my little health reflection rant for what I learned in 2016 and I really hope it's something that will stick with you, no matter where you are with your healthy lifestyle path. Whether you are just starting, whether you've been at it for years or even if you just haven't gotten around to starting yet (BUT THERE IS NO BETTER TIME THAN RIGHT NOW!).
Thank you so much for reading! Have a wonderful day!
