Officially back home in Århus after having been away for two, almost three months! As hard as it is to accept that summer is almost over, it's always really nice to come back home after a busy couple of months. Something that's a little "less nice" is the mass cleaning that has to happen to an apartment that has been very lonely for so long. I swear the past three days have basically only consisted of cleaning. Not only has there been a lot of cleaning going on but also cleaning out. I have been going through all my clothes, shoes, etc. to see what I don't use anymore or at least haven't used as much as I should. It's not only clothes that is being cleaned out, it's just everything. Getting a clean, clear slate for the start of another semester.
You don't realize how much "junk" you have until you do a really big cleaning. A bunch of "junk" that you love and have a hard time choosing what to keep and what to say goodbye too. But I use the 1 year rule for making decisions with clothes. If you haven't used it in the past year then it's time to say goodbye. Mainly because if you haven't used it this past year there's a pretty good chance you won't use it again the following year. Then once you've made some "tough" decisions you can do good by brining your clothes to a second hand store or even better to an organization that will make sure your clothes gets to those in need.
Cleaning and re-organizing will help clear your head and who wouldn't want there home to be in good shape. So do yourself a favour this weekend and do a good cleaning out for the end of summer and get ready for a brand new season.
